Fryburg Fair
is next weekend! Wow did the summer fly by or what? We're already seeing the leaves turn on the trees, and pumpkins are being harvested, and the apple picking signs are sprouting up all over. And that means it's time for the Fryburg Fair!
Now, mom and I have gone shopping once before for the shop. Once. So it may be worth it if we can shop Fryburg and live to tell the tale. And the shop will be closed on Tuesday and possibly Friday in order for us to be able to stock up and inventory any new items.
Of course, we have new yarns in this week! Cestari Yarns sent us a lovely box stuffed full of some yummy tweed wools... washable wools at that! And some oh-so-tempting cotton/wool blends (we're talking some seriously nice yarn, perfect for socks and all sorts of holiday projects) Oh and let's not forget those four luscious colors of merino that showed up too.... oh... merino... droll...

Bad, bad blogger
My camera lens broke. I'm trying to fix it, honest!
The Wednesday night stitch and bitch group is smoking! We're packing the back room most weeks, and the dessert potluck is oh-so-yummy (but not for me, back on a diet, the cookies added up too fast.) Stop by from 4-8 if you're in the area, and show off your projects. And baking skills :)
Lots happening - Fryburg Fair is coming up, and we've entered a few of our knit items, can't wait to see if we place! The sheep mittens will NOT be done in time, I do not like the way they are turning out, and have put them aside for a while. Instead, I did a hat to match the Irish Hiking Scarf, and am working on the mittens now to round out the set, all in a soft wool in deep/burnt orange. Spiffy! Now to find someone who would wear an orange scarf, hat, and mittens...

Knitty!
I love Knitty. LOVE. IT. lovelovelove.
So when I saw Samus this morning, I knew I had to knit it. Right away. Maybe mom will be thrown when she sees it in orange, and surprised when she sees it in the wine Jo Sharp. Maybe she'll get it as a present. Maybe I'll keep it myself :)

Fiber Trends
Ok, mom and I need to actually talk to one another more often. Seems we just are not communicating like we should be. In regards to the shop, to orders, to whatever.
Take, for example, Fiber Trends patterns. We were in desperate need of a new order, I agree. But when the order arrived today, and I opened the box (which, in itself, is the cause of much distress to my mother, as she wants to be the one to open all the boxes, but I digress...) I found out that mom has ordered every pattern Fiber Trends makes.
And folks, that's a whole load of patterns!

Knit for Katrina
In an effort to help those who are being relocated north, The Irish Ewe will host knit-ins every Wednesday night from 5-8pm and Saturday from 1-4pm for all of September. Any knit item will be gladly accepted, as will donated yarn, needles, and patterns for others to knit with. All items will donated to shelters and the Red Cross as those who's lives were destroyed are now being scattered northwards.
Most of those heading to New England are from New Orleans - they are not prepared for our winters, even if they did manage to bring clothes with them. A hat, a pair of socks, some mittens, or a baby or child's sweater, that is all we are asking for. Let's do what we can to help!
Your first stop should be to donate relief money to The Red Cross.
