Mmmmm....
Ok, so the Cafe Nomad (who will always be the Coming Soon Cafe to me) has been open for a few days. It didn't take the guys long to get my order down - a large skim latte with a 1/2 shot of vanilla - and I knew I was in trouble when I tried the bagels yesterday. It takes a lot for me to like a bagel, these are very nice and chewy on the inside, which is very important for a bagel to be. And the addition of olive cream cheese sealed the deal.
And quite making that face, olive cream cheese really does taste good!
The guys did ask today what I thought of the coffee. Now, those who know me can freely admit I am one of the biggest coffee snobs around. I own a French Press people, and I know how to use it! I really feel strongly that coffee needs to brew correctly, for a few minutes, and is only good for maybe 10 minutes tops. Nothing is worse to me than coffee that is old enough to get that "burnt peanut" aftertaste.
So I am happy, very very happy, to report that the Cafe Nomad guys not only make a decent cup of coffee, they make a wicked good cup of coffee. The lattes are bold, crisp, and smooth tasting, and piping hot (cold froth kind of defeats the idea of steamed milk, ya know?) I'm not a huge lover of most flavor syrups, but I do enjoy the ones they have found, although I still prefer a half-shot of syrup.
The next time you come over to the yarn shop, stop over and see the Nomad crew. And give the coffee a try.
