Free Pattern - Crochet Stocking

Size J hook
Gauge - Not critical, can make in any yarn with a large hook.

Main Body - Make 2
Chain 5
Row 1 - In second chain from hook, work 2 SC (INC), work a SC in the next two chains, work 2 SC (INC) in last stitch.

Row 2 - INC in first stitch, SC to last stitch, INC in last stitch

Repeat row 2 until 16 SC

Rows 7-12 - Work 6 rows straight

Row 13 - INC in first stitch, SC to end
Row 14-16 - Work straight

Repeat rows 13 to 16 three more times, ending with 20 SC.

Row 29 - DEC over stitches 1 and 2, SC to last stitch, INC in last stitch.
Row 30 - SC across

Row 31-50 - Repeat rows 29 and 30

Row 51 - Dec over first 2 SC, sc to last 2 sts, dec over last 2 sts - 18 SC

Row 52 - Dec over first 2 SC, sc to end - 17 SC

Row 53-62 - Rep rows 51 and 52 for five more times, 2 SC at end of row 62. Fasten off.

Join
Hold front and back with back edge across top, and top edge on your right.

Row 1 - Join yarn to top edge, work SC across back, heel, foot and toe, then back up the front of the foot and leg.

Row 2 - Ch 1, turn, sl st back around. Do not cut yarn, work cuff as follows.

Cuff
Round 1 - Ch 1, do not turn but SC around both top edges, and join with a sl st to beginning chain.

Rounds 2-5 - Ch 1, sc around, join with sl st to beginning chain. You can use two strands of yarn here to make a thicker cuff if you wish.

At the end of round 6, ch 14 for the hanging loop, and sl to last sc to close. End off.
