Rowan kid silk haze shawl update

I've been trying reeeeaaaaly hard to work on this. But those damn circular needles -- how they taunt me! All the OTHER girls knit with them, all the OTHER girls love them, but those needles just hate me. It's the joint -- I can't get the yarn to slide easily over the joint, no matter what brand needle I choose. It took me till half-time of the superbowl to knit one row. So I got out my wooden straight needles. They worked better, but the points weren't sharp enough.

So.... I put them into the electric pencil sharpener. Then at 11pm I was out in the barn trying to find sandpaper. I never did find any, but I did enjoy a cozy moment with a few sheep who were snoozing in the hay. Back in the house I found a pair of leather gloves of Brandons and spent the next football quarter rubbing the needles on the gloves. It worked! By the final quarter of the game, I could do 2 rows and those super-sharp needles will also work just fine as a stake thru the heart of any Giant fan who happens to wander thru my living room.

Anyway, I digress yet again. The body of the shawl is done and I'm on row 8 out of 22 on the first ruffle. I have 2 weeks left. I think I might actually be able to do this!

Comments

I love making fingerless mitts. I actually crochet on a little thumb cover, otherwise that lower joint gets a little cold.
